Antonis Dimitriou interview on Radio Show
Antonis Dimitriou – Lawyer for the Krokos family: “The prosecution was communicating with our witnesses”.
Antonis Dimitriou, lawyer for the family of the deceased firefighter Vasilis Krokous, who lost his life in the tragic explosion in Mari, made an intervention on a radio show.
The Larnaca District Court ruled in May 2016 to award compensation to the relatives of Vasilis Krokos in the amount of 730,000 euros.
The representative of the Legal Service, Mariana Tsangari, appealed on behalf of the Republic the first-instance court decision in relation to the compensation awarded in favor of the family members of the deceased.
This decision provoked a reaction from both the family itself, but also from society at large, as well as political parties.
Speaking on the noon radio show of “Politis”, “Sta Misa tis Meras” and more specifically to journalists Manolis Kalatzis and Christas Ntzanis, the lawyer of the Antonis Dimitriou family, spoke about: “intervention of the Legal Service with our own witnesses.”
More specifically, while the witnesses verbally pledged to bring evidence to the court that would prove Vasilis Krokos’ salary, however, after contacting the legal department, they appeared in court without the necessary documents.
Mr. Dimitriou noted that the Legal Service: “There is a problem with the multiplier which is 18 years. If possible! Here the children and relatives of missing persons receive benefits to this day. “
It is worth mentioning that the court in its first instance decision ruled that 18 years is necessary until Vasilis Krokos’ orphaned child reaches adulthood.
Finally, Mr. Dimitriou expressed his appreciation for the work being done by the Attorney General, Costas Clerides, and expressed the hope that he will intervene in the entire case.
